German Voice-Over Artist with In-House Studio – Pirmin Styrnol

A German voice
with its own studio.

Commercials, documentaries, trailers, audiobooks, museum and corporate films. Voiced by Pirmin Styrnol, recorded and fully produced in-house – no agency, no rented booth, no separate post house.

One point of contact instead of three.

Most voice artists deliver raw audio. Everything after that – editing, breaths, flubs, noise, levels, mixing – is either your problem or someone else's. Here, voice and post-production happen in the same place.

That means no coordination between voice artist, studio and engineer, no waiting for raw files, no arguing over who cleans up the room sound. What goes out is edited, de-noised, mixed and normalised to broadcast standard.

And if a line doesn't work during the session, we'll say so – rather than just reading it cleanly and sending it off.

What the voice gets booked for.

Advertising & trailers

When it has to land in 30 seconds.

Radio and TV commercials, cinema trailers, event segments, announcements. Short formats live on timing and emphasis rather than length – and they usually need fast turnaround. Short recordings normally go out within 24 hours.

  • Voice of ARD during the 2018 FIFA World Cup – daily announcements and match previews
  • DTM trailer for ARD
  • Segment voice-overs for the Miss Germany final
  • Tour trailer and live announcements for Music & Stories
Documentary

Narrating to picture, not over it.

Documentaries need a voice that carries without pushing itself forward – and someone who narrates to the cut and knows when a passage has to breathe. As a director and journalist, Pirmin Styrnol brings both sides.

  • Alpenrausch im Klimawandel – SWR documentary
  • Museum film, Tonofenfabrik, Lahr city museum
  • Corporate and image films
Audiobook

Long running times, consistent quality.

An audiobook isn't a long commercial. Over ten hours, tone, pace and level have to stay consistent – which only works when recording and mixing are handled by the same person, in the same room.

  • Recording, editing and mixing included
  • Consistent tone from start to finish
  • Delivery to publisher and platform standard
Announcements

Phone, trade fair, exhibition.

On-hold messages, automated announcements, audio guides, audio for trade fairs and exhibitions. Unglamorous but unforgiving: these recordings play thousands of times, and every mistake repeats with them.

  • Telephone and on-hold announcements
  • Audio guides and exhibition sound
  • Multi-part announcement systems with consistent tone

How it sounds.

Three recordings from different formats – documentary, television and live announcement.

What a voice recording costs.

Audiobook

Billed per finished hour.

Not by studio time but by the length of the finished audiobook. As a rule of thumb, roughly 8,000 words make about one finished hour – so you can estimate your manuscript in advance.

  • Recording, editing and mixing included
  • Delivery to publisher and platform standard
  • Fixed price, no surprises at the end
€714

Advertising, trailers, documentary

Priced by usage.

For commercials and broadcast, the fee depends on usage rather than recording length: media, territory and licence period. A regional radio spot is a different matter from a national TV campaign, even though both run thirty seconds.

  • Post-production always included
  • Short recordings usually within 24 hours

We work at a professional level: advertising, broadcast, film, museums, corporate communications and audiobook publishers. Whether a smaller project is a good fit depends less on budget than on whether the effort and the outcome line up – we'd rather discuss that openly than disappoint you afterwards.

And if a project would be a better fit elsewhere, we'll tell you that too. All prices include 19% VAT, with the net amount shown below.

Pirmin Styrnol, voice artist at punchline studio

Pirmin Styrnol.

Voice artist, director and journalist. Heard on television, in cinemas and on radio. Throughout the 2018 FIFA World Cup he was on ARD every day, voicing the announcements and the previews of upcoming matches. On top of that: work for SWR and ORF, spanning documentaries, commercials and numerous audiobooks.

You can hear that he's a director himself: he doesn't just read a script, he understands where it sits in the finished piece. Together with his brother Maik he runs punchline studio – the studio's award-winning documentaries are largely narrated by him as well.

One voice, not a roster.

We used to book other voice artists too. We don't any more. Not because the voices were bad, but because with someone else's recording we could only take responsibility for half the result – and that's exactly where quality gets lost.

If your project needs a different kind of voice from Pirmin's, we'll tell you. That's more honest than organising a casting and disappointing everyone involved.

Frequently asked questions about Voice-Over Recording.

What does a professional voice-over cost?
For audiobooks we bill per finished hour: €714 incl. VAT (€600 net), including recording, editing and mixing. As a rule of thumb, roughly 8,000 words make about one finished hour. For commercials, trailers and announcements the fee depends on usage – media, territory and licence period – so we quote it individually.
Why does an in-house studio matter?
Because recording and post-production happen in the same place. There is no coordination between voice artist, studio and audio engineer, no waiting for raw files and no arguing over who cleans up the room sound. What leaves the studio is edited, de-noised, mixed and normalised to broadcast standard.
How quickly will I get the recording?
Short recordings such as commercials, trailers or announcements are usually delivered within 24 hours. For documentaries and corporate films it depends on whether the narration is timed to picture and how many rounds of feedback are needed. Audiobooks are scheduled according to length.
Can I attend the session?
Yes, either on site at the studio in Lahr or by video link. For documentaries and advertising this is often worthwhile, because emphasis and pacing can be nailed down on the spot rather than over several rounds of corrections.
Do you offer other voices as well?
No. We no longer book other voices and focus on what we can take full responsibility for: the voice of Pirmin Styrnol, recorded and produced in our own studio. If you need a different kind of voice, we'll tell you rather than organise a casting.
Do you record in other languages, or just German?
Just German. Pirmin records, directs and edits exclusively in German – that's where the nuance and the timing actually land. If your project needs English or another language, we'll say so upfront rather than promise something we can't deliver at the same level.
What size of project is this for?
We work at a professional level: advertising, broadcast, film, museums, corporate communications and audiobook publishers. Whether a smaller project is a good fit depends less on budget than on whether the effort and the outcome line up – we'd rather discuss that openly than disappoint you afterwards.
